When one Resident mentioned that she liked Coach Jennifer Rizzotti of the Hartford Hawks basketball team, we didn’t just go to a game. We arranged a loudspeaker greeting in the stadium, a welcome on the Megatron, a special cheer for our Residents from the cheerleaders and a personal visit from Coach Rizzotti herself. What a night: a row of Residents and staff, dressed in Hawks red, rooting like kids for our heroes. A senior couple seated nearby asked, “Where are you from? We want to find a place with people like you!”
At Middlewoods of Newington, CT, our staff goes out of its way to add something extra to every moment, large or small—whether it’s putting a Resident’s favorite item on the menu or taking them for a ride through the Elizabeth Park rose gardens after a trip to the doctor. That’s the kind of community we are. The whole staff knows every Resident well and goes out of their way to make life special for each one. The caring flows both ways. We’re able to be that close-knit because we’re small—all in one building, all on one floor, with 54 studio and deluxe studio apartments.
